Hi! I’m Yvette at Fill Your Cottage. I’m a fifty-six-year old mother with seven children and nine grandchildren. We live in Sandy, Utah which is about five minutes from the Utah ski resorts. We have moved a few times but always seem to come back to this beautiful state that offers four beautiful seasons. I am working in accounting which I have done for most of my life but have always dabbled in interior design which is my true passion. My husband and I have lived in eighteen different homes, always fixing things and changing others. Over the years we suffered from miscarriages and have 6 babies waiting in heaven for us. God had different plans for us and basically dropped three adorable African American babies in our laps. We have quite a spread of age with the kids. They range from 39 to 10. We have always had little kids in our home and that’s what brings us joy. This blog is where I can share what it’s like raising all these kids, my love for décor, what we are fixing up right now and DIY projects you can do. Thank you for stopping by to join me.

My fireplace mantel is the funnest thing to decorate. I swap it out quite often and I always have visitors comment on it. I have been told more than once that my house has such a homey, cozy feeling. That's the greatest compliment to me. My main reason I decorate the way I do is so that my family feels safe and cozy in our home. It seems to be working because we all chose to spend most of our free time here together.
This is my new Pioneer Women cookware set. I think this color is dreamy and I have begun to sprinkle it around my house. Cooking with these makes the chore not quite so daunting as I am not a chef what so ever. I actually dont like cooking at all but I adore a pretty set of pots and pans. The hooks for these pans were actually in the bike section of Walmart. I just turned them on their sides and hung them from the ceiling. They have stayed in tact for 8 years now. That's considered sturdy in this house.
These scrolls are from Hearts and Scrolls. She is here in Utah which makes it fun for me since she just runs over and drops them off to me. I was the first one to buy a scroll off her website so she gave me a free scroll. How's that for customer service. They come with some pretty heavy duty magnets to hold the scroll bottom together. I purchased the lambs ear from Hobby Lobby and just cut the stems off to make these small pieces to stick in the rolled up scrolls.
He went to go get his 1 year old pictures taken and cried the entire time. My daughter only ended up with 4 pictures. I think this one in the carseat is the best one out of the bunch. Sweet little guy.
This is a beautiful linen pillowcase. It measures a whooping 26x26 and is made of the softest linen. It comes with ties on the side for closure. I got this one from BeaLinen Esty store. I think I need to order one more so I can have one on each side. Then some smaller pillows in front of those.
Found these fabulous decals for my KitchenAid mixer. Pioneer Women has probably 4 mixers and each one is covered in flowers. I believe you can find just about everything on Etsy. The decals were only $15. A small amount of money to totally transform this boring white mixer.
Best Buy for all your Electronic, Television and Furniture needs.
It's amazing what a few flowers can do to liven up a room. I am partial to tulips in pretty much every color. I do however favor red and yellow ones. Bringing nature into your home adds so much charm and brings out that cottage feeling everytime.

My beautiful corbels that my husband bought me for Christmas. They came from Hobby Lobby and I simply adore them.
My cottage is full of grandchildren that visit often. Here is my grandson who just had his first birthday and his big sister. These little people are really what make my house a home, not the decorations in it. These are precious times for me.
Here is a shot of the botton cabinets finally painted white. Ever since we got our new countertops last summer I have wanted to paint those black cabinets. I got those darling tea towels from Simply French Market Etsy store. I also purchased the plate holder on the counter from her. You should check out her store. I bet you buy something!
I could never figure out what I wanted to do on top of this cabinet so it has sat empty for 8 years and then I stumbled on this wire basket and taadaa. The container on the end is something I have had for years. It is about 100 years old. I love the way they pieced the wire around it to make it sturdy. It is quite sensitive though, as it is made out of clay. It looks beautiful filled with pinecones. The textures of the clay, wire and pinecones together is so beautiful.
Just one of the signs I made. My daughter and her husband always say this to eachother so we made this for her family room. I love the size. Go big or go home I say.
Look at the beautiful eggs my chickens give me each day. My daughters brown skin is the perfect backdrop for all these shades. She is the chicken whisperer and is out there collecting her girls eggs every day. We all have out talents.
This is my Aero Garden that I picked up at Home Depot. It was about $50. It's on a timer so the light stays one for a certain amount of hours depending on what your growing. I have already used some of the basil from the front row. Looking forward to a baked potatoe with the dill in the back. The bottom of the unit is a container for water. I have had mine for a little over a month and haven't had to add any water to it yet. Just fill it up and let the greenery begin. I can't wait to start some flower seedlings in there this spring. With it being so dreary in the winter, the light and smell of fresh herbs seems to make all the muck outside bearable.
String of Pearls are one of my favorite cottage plants. They are so delicate and charming. Quite easy to grow and dont need alot of sun.
I always love decorating for the holidays. I usually just hang a heart on each door but oh what Pinterest has to offer. I couldn't help but duplicate this darling collection of hearts. Happy Valentines Day my friends.
